GROWING PERIOD Rather slow growing perennial evergreen tree. Withstands droughts of 4-8 months. COMMON NAMES Pepper tree, Molle, Brazilian pepper tree, California peppertree. FURTHER INF Pepper tree can be found at elevations from 1000 to 3500 m. The latitudinal range of natural occurrence is 23-25°S. The tree can reach a height of 10-15 m. It is drought hardy, termite resistant, it tolerates salt winds and requires wide spacing. Mentioned as a possible agroforestry species. Annual wood production potential is 3-5 m3/ha. |
