GROWING PERIOD Rather slow growing perennial evergreen tree, that can be grown in a 90-160 years rotation for hardwood. COMMON NAMES Chir pine, Long-leaved pine, Longifolia pine, Chil, Shti, Sarol, Sirli, Dhup. FURTHER INF Scientific synonym: P. longifolia. In the Himalayan, Chir pine can be found at elevations from 500 to 2500 m. The latitudinal range of natural occurrence is 26-35°N. The tree can reach a height of 30-60 m. The tree is drought hardy and fire resistant. Annual wood production potential is 7-14 m3/ha. |
