Plants are grown from roots cuttings and flower in their 2nd year. Thebaine content is highest 20-30 days after the flowers open. COMMON NAMES Scarlet poppy, Oriental poppy. FURTHER INF Scarlet poppy is native of Caucasus and northern and western Iran. It can be found at elevations between 1500 and 3000 m. Combined yields of thebaine are 15-70 kg/ha.
