BRIEF DESCRIPTION A straight boled tree reaching 20 m in height and 20-30 cm in diameter. With pink flowers 20-50 mm in diameter. USES Can be used in contour hedgerows on sloping lands for erosion control and mulch. Wood can be used for pulp and as fuel and to some extent for poles and woodcraft. The foliage provides fodder and green manure. GROWING PERIOD Perennial. COMMON NAMES Leucaena diversifolia. FURTHER INF L. diversifolia is native of the Central American Highlands. It thrives at elevations up to 1000 m, but can be found up to 2000 m. Reported yields range from 8-42 m3/ha/year. It is nitrogen fixing and mentioned as a possible agroforestry species.
