In India the tree flowers in April-May and the friuts ripen in October-November. (GMIN and GMAX estimated by the compiler). COMMON NAMES Black kongu, Karumkongu. FURTHER INF Scientific synonym: Balanocarpus utilis. Black kongu can be found at elevations from 200 to 850 m. The tree can reach a height of 18-24 m and a girth of 1.8-4.6 m. The tree can withstand heavy shade in the early stages, but is sensitive to fire. |
