COMMON NAMES White kongu, Iron wood of Malabar, Hopea, Bogimara, Bovumara, Oovige, Kiralbogi, Tirupu, Iruppu, Kambagom, Irumbagam, Thambagam, Uripu, Kolhoni, Kongu, Pongu, Vellai kongu, Irumbugam, Agil, Karankongu, Konju, Nirkongu. FURTHER INF White kongu can reach a height of 30-37 m and a girth of 4.6 m. It can be found at elevations from 50 to 1100 m. It is adapted to a mean annual humidity of about 70% and often reaching 100%. The tree can withstand heavy shade in the early stages, later it is light demanding. |
