COMMON NAMES Panama rubber, Castilloa rubber, Central American rubber. FURTHER INF Scientific synonym: Castilloa elastica. Panama rubber is native to the region between Mexico (21°N) and northwestern South America. It is well adapted to areas with high air humidity. The tree grows very rapidly and can become up to 60 m tall. It can be found at elevations between sea level and 500 m. |
