BRIEF DESCRIPTION Usually a tall tree reaching 30 m in height, while the trunk may reach 100 cm in diameter. The trunk is cylindrical with narrow transverse ridges and is usually buttressed at the base. The crown is large and compact, consisting of glossy green foliage. Sapwood pale yellow and up to 3 cm wide, heartwood light to dark pinkish-brown, straight grained and fine textured. USES The wood is prone to wraping and needs careful stacking when drying. It is used to make attractive furniture, intenal joinery and plywood. GROWING PERIOD Perennial. COMMON NAMES Red carabeen. FURTHER INF Scientific synonym: G. benthami. In Australia, the latitudinal range of the tree is 28-31.5°S and it occur at elevations between 100-1000 m.
