BRIEF DESCRIPTION A medium sized to tall, well-formed tree reaching up to 40 m in height, while the trunk may reach 220 cm in diameter. The stem is usually buttressed but the buttresses do not extend far up the trunk. Sapwood up to 10 cm wide, heartwood black, brown or chocolate, firm and hard to cut and very finely textured. USES The wood is used for the production of sliced veneer and quality cabinet work, taking a high polish. GROWING PERIOD Perennial. COMMON NAMES Queensland walnut, Black walnut, Walnut. FURTHER INF In Australia, the latitudinal range of the tree is 16°50'-18°10'S and it occur at elevations between sea level and 1200 m. (pH estimated by the compiler).
