BRIEF DESCRIPTION A robust grass with rather stout stems from 1 to over 2 m high. USES Very palatable with good nutritive value. Used for pasture but will not withstand to heavy grazing. Can also be used for hay and silage. GROWING PERIOD Summer-growing annual grass. COMMON NAMES Channel millet, Native millet, Swamp millet, Western millet, Wild millet, Wild sorghum, Native sorghum, Channel sorghum. FURTHER INF In Australia channel millet latitudinal range is 17-29°S and it can be found at elevations from 100-200 m. It is normally found on seasonally flooded heavy clay soils, seeds will not germinate unless flooded and it will not tolerate drought.
