BRIEF DESCRIPTION
A tall and lofty evergreen tree reaching a height of up to 40-45 m and a girth of 4-5 m. The bole is up to 2/3 of the tree height and cylindrical.

Perennial.

COMMON NAMES
Gurjan, Garjan, Kherjong, Kural sal, Kuroil, Tilia gurjan, Kali gurjan, Shweat gurjan, Telia gurjan.

FURTHER INF
Scientific synonym: D. laevis. Gurjan can be found in Bangladesh, Myanmar and on the Andamen Islands at elevations between sea level and 700 m. Relative humidity should be about 70% in January and up to 100% in June. The tree is very sensitive to fire. It is shade tolerant in youth. Yields may be about 40-60 m3/ha/year.
