In India the flowers appear along the leafless branches in March-April, the fruits ripen in May-June and the laeves are shed in January-February. COMMON NAMES Dillenia, Mechi, Akshi, Tatari, Karkotta, Sonchempo, Raichempo, Aggai, Kallai, Kaltega, Kanagola, Kadukanigala, Punna, Kodapunna, Vazhapunna, Karmal, Kanagula, Kari, Karumbel, Kaeweil, Rai, Kanagala, Kangal, Kalteku, Pinnai, Naiteku, Ravudana, Uva, Karuva, Chinna-kalinga. FURTHER INF In the tropics, dillenia can be found at elevations between sea level and 900 m. The tree can reach a height of 15-21 m. |
