DESCRIPTION: It is an evergreen perennial reaching up to 0.5-1 m in height and 0.6 m in width. USE: It is grown for its edible long, slender, edible petioles and leaflets. Also the root and stem is edible. The seed is used as a seasoning. It also has medicinal properties and is widely grown as a perennial leaf garden ornamental and also indoors as a potted plant. GROWING PERIOD: Perennial but usually cultivated as an annual. COMMON NAMES: Mitsuba, Japanese honeworts, Japanese parsley. FURTHER INF: It is found wild in woodland in hills and mountains where it can be found in light to deep shade and along shady edges. |
