BRIEF DESCRIPTION An evergreen medium-sized tree reaching 30 m in height with a diameter of up to 60 cm. USES The wood can be used for general construction purpose, and joinery and the tree can be used as an ornamental in gardens and along streets, and as a shade tree. GROWING PERIOD Fast-growing perennial. COMMON NAMES Spotted silky oak, Ivory curl, Ivory curl flower, Buckinghamia. FURTHER INF Spotted silky oak occurs naturally in northeastern Queensland, Australia at latitudes between 15-19°S at elevations from 500-850 m. It can be found on high rugged ranges, plateaux, alluvial, deltaic plains, rocky slopes, and along stream banks. It is somewhat drought-resistant and frost-hardy. (pH estimated by the compiler).
