BRIEF DESCRIPTION An erect, smooth grass up to 80 cm tall with narrow up to 30 cm long leaf-blades. USES Used for pasture, withstands heavy grazing, can stay green over a long period and has a high protein content. GROWING PERIOD Summer-growing perennial grass. COMMON NAMES Brachiaria dura. FURTHER INF Brachiaria dura is common in dry, upland woodlands, often on sandy soils with low fertility. In Zambia, it can be found at an average altitude of 1000 m. It occurs between latitudes 14-17°45'S and longitudes 22-25°30'. The grass is very drought resistant.
