KILLING T: Very winter-hardy. GROWING PERIOD: Long-lived perennial legume. COMMON NAMES: Cicer milkvetch. FURTHER INF.: It is adapted to a wide range of soil and climatic conditions, from drylands with more than 400 mm rainfall annually to irrigated soils. It prefers calcareous soils but grows on moderately acid and alkaline soils, although intolerant of very acid soils. It has good drought tolerance. It is winter hardy. It is slow to start growth in spring at low to moderate temperatures (7-18°C). It is a long-day species that requires a period of vernalization for maximum flowering. It is intolerant of shade.It is suited to infrequent defoliation. |
