Scientific synonym: Conocarpus latifolia. In the Himalayan, Axle-wood tree can be found at elevations up to 1300 m. On deep soils it can become a large tree, with a bole up to 15 m long. The leaves are fed to silkworms. The species is indigenous to the semiarid areas of India. It is drought hardy but easily damaged by fire. Mentioned as a possible agroforestry species.
