BRIEF DESCRIPTION A large evergreen tree reaching a height of 45-65 m. The trunk may reach a diameter of up to 200 cm. USE The wood is used as a general purpose softwood. It is used for joinery, turnery, boat building, constructions under cover, household utensils, panelling etc. GROWING PERIOD Perennial. COMMON NAMES Damar, Dammar raja, Kisi, Salo, Dayungon, Kauri pine, Amboyna pitch tree, Agathis indien, Pin de kauri, Bindang, Tulong, Damar sigi, Damar bindang, Damar minyak, Mengilan, Almaciga, Bidiango, Bagtik, Son-khaomao. FURTHER INF Scientific synonym: A. loranthifolia, A. celebica, A. hamii. Damar occurs naturally within the latitudinal range of 20°N-11°S and it can be found at elevations from sea level to 1600 m. The tree is windfirm and shade tolerant in youth. Optimum annual wood production is 10-20 m3/ha.
