BRIEF DESCRIPTION Small tree reaching a height of 4-15 m. It may be erect and singel-stemmed, or divided into several stems 1 m above the ground. It develops a spreading crown with pendulous branches. USES The wood can be used for furniture, fence posts, and firewood. Leaves can be used as fodder for sheep. It is a good windbreak, and it can be used for rehabilitating mine dumps. Seeds and pods are edible. GROWING PERIOD Moderately fast-growing perennial. COMMON NAMES River cooba, River myall, Belalie, Dunthy, Black wattle, Dalby wattle, Ironwood, Native willow, Eumung, Eumong, Gurley. FURTHER INF River cooba occur in central and eastern Australia at latitudes between 17-36°S and at elevations from sea level to 625 m. While its main range is between 23-33°S at altitudes between 50-325 m. It occurs on plains and gentle slopes and is common on the margins of water courses, river flood plains, and depressions and in places where the rainfall is supplemented by groundwater or periodic flooding.
