In the Mediterranean contries, the shrub is grown on a 5-10 years rotation for fuelwood. COMMON NAMES Orange wattle, Golden wreath wattle, Blue-leafed wattle. FURTHER INF Scientific synonym: A. cyanophylla. In Australia orange wattle can be found within the latitudinal range 28-33°S. The general latitudinal range is 25-34°S. In the tropics it can be found at altitude between 1200-2600 m, and in the subtropics the tree can be grown from sea level to about 325 m. Can reach a height of 4-8 m in just 4 or 5 years. The species is indigenous to Southwest Austalia. Mentioned as a possible agroforestry species. Optimum annual wood production is 10 m3/ha, while 2-5 m3 is a more common yield. The tree is fire resistant, drought hardy, it fixes nitrogen and tolerates salt winds. It has become a serious weed in parts of South Africa, it can infest water courses, and has proved very difficult to eradicate.
