BRIEF DESCRIPTION A tall evergreen shrub or small tree usually growing 10-16 m tall, but it can reach up to 20 m. It tree often has a well defined main stem, with drooping branches. USES It provides shade, shelter, erosion control, and windbreak. The leaves and pods are eaten by sheep. The wood close-grained and heavy and takes a high polish. It can be used for quality furniture. GROWING PERIOD Perennial, growing 120-240 days per year. COMMON NAMES Cooba, Willow wattle, Doolan, Broughton willow wattle, Native wattle. FURTHER INF In Australia, cooba can be found at latitudes within 20-28°S, at altitudes between sea level and 2000 m. The general latitudinal range is 19-37°S. It is mostly found on flat alluvial plains and floodplains. It is nitrogen-fixing and relatively drought resistant. Optimum annual wood production is 3-5 m3/ha.
