Notes
BRIEF DESCRIPTION A shrub or small tree treching a height of up to 5-8 m or even 12 m on favourable sites. Tall trees may have a trunk up to 6 m tall and 25 cm in diameter. The crown is dense and spreading. USES It is an attractive ornamental and the wood can be used as fuel. GROWING PERIOD Perennial. COMMON NAMES Black gidgee, Gidgee, Tawu. FURTHER INF Black gidgee occur in Western Australia and the southwest of the Northern Territory at latitudes between 19-28°S and altitudes between 450-750 m. It is commonly found on wide flat watercourses, sandy or gavelly alluvial plains, between sand dunes, lower slopes and on hard laterite ridges.
