BRIEF DESCRIPTION An evergreen shrub or small tree reaching a height of up to 2-6 m. It has a moderately dense crown and bright golden yellow flowers. USES The wood can be used for posts, rails, small joinery items, and low quality firewood. It is a good ornamental, provides low shelter and windbreak, and it is a good source of pollen for bees. The bark has a moderate tannin content. GROWING PERIOD Fast-growing perennial. COMMON NAMES Queensland silver wattle, Mount Morgan wattle, Golden ball wattle, Pearl acacia. FURTHER INF Queensland silver wattle can be found in southeastern Queensland, Australia within the latitudinal range 23-29°S at elevations between 25-700 m. It is common on hillsides and rocky ridges in undulating or hilly sandstone and granite areas. It is nitrogen-fixing. |
