BRIEF DESCRIPTION A 3-5 m tall well branched shrub or a small tree reaching a height of up to 12 m. On large trees the trunk may reach a height of 4 m and a diameter of 25 cm. USES Wood is used for fuel, posts and poles, and small joinery and turnery items, and cabinet work. The tree can provide moderate shade and can be used as an ornamental. GROWING PERIOD Perennial. COMMON NAMES Acacia leptocarpa. FURTHER INF This acacia can be found in the coastal areas of northeast Australia within the latitudinal range 8-26°S at elevations between sea level and 550 m, and it also occurs in Papua New Guinea. It is found on flats and gentle slopes, including stabilised dunes and areas subject to prolonged flooding.
