BRIEF DESCRIPTION A small to medium sized tree reaching 12-25 m in height, while the trunk may reach 60 cm in diameter. It commonly crows in very dense stands in which the crown is restricted to the top one-quarter or one third of the tree. USES It can provide low quality fodder, firewood, and charcoal. The timber can be used for cabinet work, tunery, rail material, building poles, and fence posts. It can be planted as an ornamental. GROWING PERIOD Perennial. Withstands a dry season of 5-7 months. COMMON NAMES Brigalow, Bribalow spearwood. FURTHER INF Brigalow occur in centraleastern Australia, the latitudinal range of the tree is 19-34°S and it occur at elevations between sea level and 330 m. Brigalow attains its best development on plains topography and is only rarely found on hills and ridges. The species is nitrogen-fixing. It is reported to cause 'bribalow itch' a form of dermatitis in man.
