Flowers in February-May and fruit several months later. COMMON NAMES Ice-cream bean, Guava machete, Inga cipo, Guavobejuco, Guava. FURTHER INF Scientific synonyms: I. tropica, I. vaga. Ice-cream bean is native of Central and South America. It can be found at elevations between sea level and 2200 m. It can grow up to 17 m tall. Extensively used for shade of coffee, tea, and cacao, especially in Central America.
